With the new revolution brought in by the invention of floppy to USB converter, the floppies have literary been pushed out of the market. These delicate floppies and the floppy drive are no longer needed. Various users from different aspects of life have been benefitted by these floppy to USB emulator. These users are from CNC, Robotics, medical, musical, textile manufacturing and several other fields. No doubt with this discovery of floppy to USB a lot of issues have been resolved, but still remain unaccounted for. There are around eight different versions of floppy to USB emulators available in the market. These USB as floppy types vary because of different format type like 720 kb double density, 1.2 mb and 1.44 mb. The difference could possibly because of the different interface types of floppy to USB emulator like they could be with 34 pin, 26 pin or 26 CFF type interface. Few of the issues that the customer faces while the up gradation to use USB as floppy are discussed as below. Some times when a user tries to install this floppy to USB to use USB as floppy, the most common of the errors faced is that the green indication of the USB as floppy permanently lights up and the user is not able to read or write anything using the floppy to USB emulator. Also when user disconnects the data cable the green light in front of the floppy drive to USB emulator goes off. This green indication normally should only light up when in busy state and else should be off. Actually front green led indication on floppy to USB emulator symbolizes a busy signal. In normal case this green led glows only when the floppy to USB emulator tries to access USB flash disk. Mostly this issue occurs when the Floppy Disc Drive 34 pin interface connection cable is reversely plugged in. While plugging in the data cable users do not take care of Pin 1 and Pin 34 connection side. In short, if we carefully observe one side of the floppy data cable is colored as red/black or blue which indicates the Pin 1 mark. So this color has to be aligned with the Pin -1 on the floppy to USB emulator, so that it can successfully read USB as floppy. Because of the availability of several variants of USB as floppy, users do mistake them as same, and try using them by simply plugging in and USB flash discs. Actually apart from difference in formats and interface connections there is another basic operational difference in this floppy to USB emulator. There are typical two different methods of operation to use USB as floppy. One type of floppy to USB emulator uses a USB flash disc formatting software. This floppy to USB formatting software basically partitions USB flash drive into 100 partitions in such a way that each partition can be size of 720kb, 1.2 mb or 1.44mb as required by the user. So in short users have a data equal to 100 floppy disks on a single USB flash drive. This type of floppy to USB emulator support Non Dos formats and boot floppy functions. So users should be careful while installing these type of USB as floppy emulators, that they format the USB disk with the software else this type of floppy to USB will not be able to read the data from bare new USB flash drive. These are very generic steps those need to be followed while the up gradation of machine to use USB as floppy using these floppy drive to USB emulator.
