A crib is an alternative to a Moses basket, cot or cot bed. Choosing baby items for a new arrival is a very exciting time for parents but with so many different products to choose from it can also be a confusing time. New parents will need to decide what they want their new born to sleep in. The most popular choice for a brand new baby is a Moses basket that is placed in the room with parents at night. After a baby has outgrown their Moses basket then they may then progress into a crib. A crib is an in between sleeping solution if you feel a baby is too small to go straight into a cot. If you’re considering a crib then you will need to find out more about them.

A crib is a small cot that is attached to a base and tends to have a rocking motion which can help settle the baby to sleep. A traditional crib will have a canopy over it which drapes over the sides of the crib and looks very attractive. The drape is mainly for decorative purposes but in past times may have served a purpose such as keeping insects away from the baby. A crib tends to be a standard size and may be bought complete with the mattress and crib bedding as a package. When looking at a crib the majority are made of wood but can differ in the type of wood, the colour and the overall design of the crib. A crib will not last as long as a cot and will not be suitable once a baby is sitting up or can pull themselves up and this is when for safety reasons they would need to go into a cot.

If you want to create a very traditional and elegant nursery for your new arrival with a crib then you may also want to invest in a rocking horse for the room. A traditional wooden rocking horse is still a frim favourite with children of all ages and it makes a lovely feature in a child’s bedroom. Once they are old enough to ride the rocking horse you can be sure it will provide hours of fun and it is something that can be passed on to future generations. With so many wonderful rocking horse designs to choose from you are sure to find one that is perfect.
