The Ford Lincoln Luxury Car Lines: from then to Now
When talking about luxury vehicles, only a few stands out in the market, and among them is the Lincoln. Lincoln was adjudged in 1988 as the best-selling luxury vehicle in the US, beating the other top luxurious Euro brands. This only speaks highly of a Lincoln’s high-class features, exemplary driving abilities, top quality parts and superior design.
The engineering placed in Lincoln automobiles is backed by more than a century of Ford’s car-making excellence. As one of the divisions of Ford Motor Company, Lincoln shares the company’s adherence to building top quality vehicles whatever class they may be. Lincoln’s most popular models include the Continental, the Navigator and the Town Car. Here, the histories and developments of each vehicle are reviewed:
The Lincoln Continental
The Lincoln Continental was first made for Edsel Ford–son of founder Henry– for one of his spring vacations. The car impressed the younger Ford’s colleagues and friends that he decided to put it into production. The earliest Lincoln Continental models featured the finest parts and materials of that time, from the exterior down to the smallest detail in the cabin and under the hood. After the Continental was discontinued in 2002, it was replaced by the Lincoln LS, and eventually, the Lincoln MKS.
The Lincoln Navigator
The Lincoln Navigator is a new generation model, first released in 1998. It is a full-sized sport utility vehicle (SUV) that shares some similarities with the Ford Expedition line of vehicles. Compared to the Continental, it featured more sophisticated auto parts and as an SUV, it’s very sturdy: the Navigator could withstand the most difficult off-road driving conditions. Lincoln Navigators are still in production today.
The Lincoln Town Car
The Lincoln Town Car was first designed to be a limousine version of the Continental and it was first released in 1959. In 1971, the Town Car was re-introduced as a more luxurious version of the Continental. After a decade, it was re-introduced again, but this time, as a different Lincoln model line. Though the Lincoln Town Car line was discontinued in 2011, it can still be offered as a certified pre-owned vehicle at Ford Oakville dealers.
To woo new buyers from the Internet generation, Lincoln focuses on better customer service at its dealerships. An example of these efforts is the new 24-hour online concierge service that answers any questions you may have, and helps you find the exact car you want. You can get more information about it at an authorized dealer of Ford in Oakville.
