Solid Points Towards Social Responsibility

Corporate social responsibility is a term used for companies throughout the world indicating their responsibilities to the society.

Society is the combination of people. They can be people living in a rural area; any region; a town or a city. However, while the people living in the entire country are collectively called as the nationals, those who are living in small groups are called as society.

In fact, corporate social responsibility is the recently coined term. The broad objectives of any company are to earn profits at any cost and in this respect no company is spared; they can be big corporate or small concerns.

There are certain firms which are engaged in manufacturing activities while there are some other kinds of firms who are performing trading activities. Quite a few are found to be doing consultancy, educational and charitable services apart from hospitalization services.

However, it is in the interest of the companies as mentioned above, that while on the one hand they are aiming to bring profits at any cost, they are equally responsible in taking care of the needs of the society from whom they are earning such income. When there are no customers, there cannot be any business. In the absence of any society where is the question of doing any business or production activity? Except some socially responsible companies, many are least bothered about the welfare of the community or society. There are two kinds of services the big corporate have to do: on the one hand they should ensure that their activities are not harmful to the society and on the other hand they should voluntarily gear up to enter into some kinds of social activities thereby fulfilling their responsibilities.

In regard to the former it can be seen that; some corporate engaged in manufacture of leather goods are found to be discarding the leather wastes and chemicals into the canals, rivers and empty lands knowing well that those wastes are harmful to the health of the people; hospitals and other medical service professionals leaving the medical wastes into the streets, roads and lands which are responsible for polluting the air and atmosphere thereby hampering the health of the society and the list can drawn with more defaulters in this respect. Socially responsible companies will definitely avoid those things from the list of their activities.

In respect of the companies second cited, they are voluntarily coming forward in providing educational, medical, transportation and other infrastructure facilities to the people living in their regions knowing well that society's cooperation is indispensable for the growth of the company.
