Importance of Discipline for Children
Discipline is part of everyday life which needs to be followed by every single human being in one form or another. Without it people are like animals who don’t know about themselves. Children in any household are bound to have disputes over trivial issues but it’s every parent’s duty to train their children and make them better citizens. Their training needs to start right from the beginning rather than when parents find it difficult to control the situations. They are the future stalwarts of any country who need to be nurtured as responsible people of the future.
There are families where sibling disputes are bound to happen; these are the times when parents can teach them how to learn to adjust with others. Discipline is a continuous facet of life which has to be nurtured at various stages in children’s lives. Respect and kindness are two most important aspects of life which need to be inculcated among children in order to make them better people. The squabbling and fighting among them can be the instances when children can be counseled and asked to rectify themselves. Continuous molding by parents in the right direction will make them good students in near future.
As children grow their thinking, understanding and number of friends grow. These can be huge factors influencing their minds and bringing sea change in their personalities as well. The transition period comes in every child’s life as they tend to grow up with time slowly passing away. Gradually they too start understanding the meaning of family and friends, building a serene family life are not easy but not impossible. It’s just a matter time that they start living a disciplined life. It brings change in a person’s behavior to a great extent. Children’s transformation into an adult is inevitable yet if they are properly trained to live a life with all the principles life goes on smoothly. The understanding about what is right and wrong is extremely important in today’s world. Without discipline such aspects of life cannot be learnt. Children who aren’t trained well become leeches who drain their family’s resources. It’s aptly said ‘as you sow so shall you reap’, the upbringing of children tell what kind of family background they belong to. The 9/11 incident was a few dirty minds’ work and similarly many communal riots are also a result of the same. If children are kept in control right from the beginning such incidents can be put to an end.
Parents need to take effective measures to ensure a successful future for their wards respectively. They need to state the boundaries for children as to how much they can talk about an issue of concern. Youngsters need to be told about the consequences of all kinds of actions which they take up without their permission. Listening skills and eye contact need to be developed slowly in order to make them mature adults in time. Lastly teaching discipline starts right from the baby’s birth. It’s surely a long process however; it will reap results in the times to come.
