House numbers and signs

When decorating and designing the look of the outside of your house there is much to consider. You need to think about the doorhandles, the windows, the pain job on the walls, the grass and more. All of this will help to make a good impression on people who are approaching your home and on those who are just passing by. First impressions as most people know are highly important and make the difference between people have a good experience of your home and a bad one – everything else they see and do will be colored by their initial impressions they had.

One thing you mustn't forget though when looking into the appearance of your building exterior is house numbers and signs. These might seem like an afterthought but actually they are very important and make a big difference to the look of your home and to your experience of living there. Here we will look at why.

First of all, if you have poor house numbers and signs this might make it difficult for people to find your home. It is important for you to make sure that your house number sand signs stand out so that when people are searching for your home on the street they will be sure to find yours with ease. Otherwise you might find that people who came to visit you sometimes simply give up and end up going home. The situation you can most expect this to happen in is delivery. Delivery services can be notoriously hit and miss and while some are very good, it only takes a lazy driver to give up looking for your home and force you to pick up an important package from an depo miles from where you live which is highly inconvenient. Likewise it might just mean people arrive late to parties and that you have to keep going round next door to collect your mail.

Speaking of next door, having good house numbers and signs also makes life easier for them. The obvious reason for this is that if your house is clearly marked, it makes it easier for people to find those around you. If your house is 22 then this makes it much easier for people to find 24 next door or 23 across the road. It's neighborly to clearly mark your home so make sure you do it.

What this all also means is that people are guaranteed to notice your house numbers and signs. This is because they are actively looking for them when they come to your home. Thus they will be sure to notice if yours is old and cracked and it won't make a good impression. At the same time though if you use this as a great opportunity to show some individuality and some creative flair then you will be able to benefit from that too and people will be more likely to think highly of your home and also to remember it when they come next time.

I think it is nice to come home to your house and have a nice letterbox and proud house numbers on your home. If your home has a name, I think house signs are also cool.
