North and South Goa Districts – Where Life is Literally a Beach

Goa is fascinating tourist spot well renowned for its beaches. Geographically, it’s divided into North and South regions, both featuring a variety of attractions to savor. Read on to know more about Goa’s North and South districts.

Goa has been ranked among the most glamorous and exotic beach destinations in Asia. This tropical heaven is nestled at India’s western coastline and has been a favorite haunt for active travelers. Goa’s charms lie in its beautiful beaches, gorgeous architectures and tremendous ethnic diversity. Alongside, mesmeric cultures, lovingly weather and pulsating adventure sports also enchant the travelers.

In Goa, life is literally a beach. The long shoreline of Goa features more 35 beaches, divided into two regions: North Goa beaches and South Goa beaches. Spend day sunbathing and swimming, explore challenging water sports like wind surfing and scuba-diving or enjoy soothing serenity amid gorgeous natural vistas. You’ll find a unique festivity at these beaches, especially during peak tourist seasons. Thousands of travelers flock these beaches and enjoy various fun-filled activities.

The North Goa

It comprises the entire coast from Fort Aguada to Goa-Maharashtra border. This 30km long stretch of beaches, rocky hidden caves and golden sandy shoreline is awesomely beautiful and is thronged by a large number of travelers. The Calangute is the busiest beach in North Goa, being a center of tourist trade and various water sports. However, there is a dangerous sea-puss that restricts swimming time. Sinquerim beach, located at the foot of Fort Aguada, is dotted with beautiful palms and numerous accommodation and dining options. Similarly, Candolim is a great place to savor modern ambiences amid scintillating tropical beauty.

Move ahead along the coast, and you’re at crescent-shaped Baga. Postcard picturesque and idyllic to enjoy water sports, this beach is a favorite hunt of active travelers. From parasailing to jet-skiing and surfing to body boarding, one can enjoy a range of adventures at Baga. Further north from Baga is Anjuna – the most famous Goa beach known for its hippie culture. Shopping at Wednesday flea market is a fascinating experience for travelers. Move to Arambol beach if you want to savor isolation and tranquility of Goa.

The South Goa

Dominated by several beaches and up-market resorts, this region is quieter than North Goa. It starts from Velsao and ends at Mobor, and contains a 20km stretch of white sand with calm sea. Velsao is quiet and clean, and hence make perfect choice for romantic couples and peace-seekers. Move further to beautiful Majorda and then Colva to see an amzing combination of natural beauty and man-made recreations. Colva is highly commercialized dotted with several modern establishments like discotheques, resort complexes and trinket stalls. Going further south will take you to picturesque, pure and pristine Benaulim. It’s tranquil, shallow and safe to enjoy your beach vacation.

If you feel active and want to savor watery funs, the River Mandavi and Dauna Puala beach are good options. You can enjoy rafting, boating and aqua biking in this region.
