Travelling is fun. It has been said that travelling gather knowledge. There is no doubt that United States of America is a great place to travel. One of the most dynamic countries on earth, the country offers a wide range of terrain, diverse cultures, vast cities and small friendly towns with something for everyone. America is a feast for the eyes. Travelers from near and far flock here to savor scenery as magnificent as any on earth. So who doesn’t want to see it all firsthand.

Attractions such as the Statue of Liberty in New York City, the monuments, memorials and museums of the country's capital of Washington, D.C., Mount Rushmore National Monument in South Dakota, the Rocky Mountains, the Florida Keys, the wine regions of Napa and Sonoma in California, the tropical wonderland of the Hawaiian Islands and the untouched wilderness of Alaska give visitors the opportunity to experience the beauty, well-documented history and incredible pride Americans have of their country and its accomplishments.

As much as it is both a symbol of freedom and a source of controversy, the United States of America still beckons millions from all over the world with its promise of opportunity or what is better known as the American Dream. It is often referred to as a virtual melting pot where diversity in culture, race, religion, and language blend together to produce a single, and for the most part, united nation.

Each state possesses its own kind of beauty, often surprisingly diverse. Tennesseans claim theirs could better be called three states: East Tennessee, where the Great Smoky Mountains predominate; pastoral Middle Tennessee, with its elegant horse farms; and, on the bluffs of the mighty Mississippi, West Tennessee and its fertile farmland. Idaho, for another example, changes abruptly from lofty mountains to prairie, from woodland to desert. And in addition to the broad panoramas of mountain and plain there is hidden beauty everywhere: shaded lanes and old millponds, mysterious bayous and sunlit gardens, natural bridges and secluded glades.

The country is difficult to sum up in a single sentence. Political views, scientific discoveries and the latest Hollywood gossip make regular appearances in international newspapers, but these tidbits represent a tiny fraction of the culture existing within a landmass that is similar in size to Canada or China.

The alpine splendors of the Rocky Mountains stretch from Alaska to Mexico, encompassing icy peaks and glacial lakes in Montana, glistening streams in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, and flower-filled meadows in New Mexico’s Sangre de Cristo range. Hawaii’s blue waters and green-ridged volcanic slopes lie a full 5,200 miles from the languid lagoons and coconut palms of Florida’s southern tip.

The United States can offer the traveler a breadth of sightseeing and adventure. From the Atlantic to the Pacific, the rich American landscape encompasses sweeping mountains ranges, national parks, sun-kissed beaches and wide open desert spaces. With such a vast terrain, it's been said that one of the best ways to see America is on a road trip.
