Finding and Exploring Some Hidden Gems in Stockholm
If you have a passion for visiting capital cities you should consider visiting Stockholm if you get the chance to visit Sweden. It offers so much to the average visitor that it is virtually impossible to run out of things to see and do here.
While you will want to see some of the most famous sights the city has to offer, try the Skogskyrkogarden (Woodland cemetery) for example, or the Stockholm City Museum, but the city also has plenty of other more unusual and lesser known places to visit.
Take the Observatory Museum for example. This can be found on top of the Observatory Hill. Thus you can look forward to some superb views when you reach the top, even before you go inside the building itself. Make sure you look back to get a wonderful view over Stockholm before entering the building to explore the museum it holds within. There are several rooms you can look round here, including the New Meridian Room, the Observation Room and Wargentin’s Workshop.
If you want to explore as much of the city as possible but you don’t want to do it all on foot, why not consider taking a place on a Stockholm bike tour? This has several advantages, not least the fact you can cover more ground than you would by walking. However by being guided along you will get to see some hidden gems that you wouldn’t see if you opted for a sightseeing bus instead.
Park Teatern is also worth a visit if you are in Stockholm during the summer months. This is when free concerts and theatre productions are put on in the park. Visitors are encouraged to bring along a picnic and enjoy the entertainment all day. It certainly makes a nice change from wandering around the city itself.
Even though you are in a bustling capital city, Stockholm still has a nice range of green spaces to enjoy. One of the best has to be Rosendal’s Garden. This garden has a long history stretching back well over a century. It is an organic garden which has an apple orchard, a beautiful rose garden and plenty of greenhouses too. If you see anything you particularly like you may find you can buy it for yourself from the plant shop on site. You can even enjoy an organic lunch if you so desire, thanks to the welcoming restaurant in the grounds.
When you book your hotel Stockholm you can look forward to discovering all kinds of hidden gems right on your doorstep. Regardless of whether you are staying in the city for a few days or longer, there is certainly plenty to do and enjoy here.
