Unlike the conventional ones, engravers use an intense beam of light for laser engraving instead of the vibrating or revolving tool. The beam can vaporize a small surface area, which is also known as the laser engraving and the change in the color of the surface also known as laser marking.

The discovery of lasers was considered as the revolution in the engraving industry and soon after it was used widely for various other industrial applications. The other applications of the laser include etching, heat-treating as well as welding. When aesthetics and permanent markings are in demanded then laser marking is considered as a preferred method. You can imagine the power to that of a light source similar to a light bulb which will discharge energy out all around it.

Laser etching is the other name for laser engraving. This aids in providing a more permanent effect on a finished component or on the in-process component. This work can be done easily on any kind of materials like mirrors, premium hardwoods, glass, leather, arborite, granite, stainless steel and slate.

This laser works exceptionally well for cutting acrylic (Plexiglas), PETG, thin polycarbonates (Mylar), styrene expanded PVC (Sintra), paper, fabric and wood. This also reduces the contamination and wrapping hence enhancing high accuracy. The method also boosts the quality of the finished product in an industrial cutting application. This also provides advanced cut-edge quality with parallel sides, which also means that there is no proof of burrs.

This laser engraving is a method in which the materials are marked at a very fast speed. The markings on glass by CO2 lasers while on the move are the greatest advantage for the industrial applications and environments since the method does not use any ink. This again means that not only the markings are permanent, but the process is environmental friendly. When the lasers are used to etch on glass and quartz they restore the conventional methods like etching, ink pad printing and blasting.

Today the method of laser engraving is the most commonly found and the quality of the outcome is also quite good.
