Business Intelligence gearing up to go mobile
Business intelligence is the critical solution for analyzing business data. This analysis is the most important step to take businesses further against the tide of competition. Traditionally, business intelligence was always confined to office limits and this was a major drawback in terms of remote data sources and far flung operations. Mobile Business Intelligence is that new trend in the business intelligence that provides the data access to the executives and this keeps them in the loop of any transactions.
In the present scenario, there are two potential user fraternities for Mobile Business Intelligence (MBI).
A. Firms that already use BI and would want to update the access from mobile devices.
B. Firms that don’t use BI and that they would adopt MBI more quickly.
It is believed rightly that in two years, 25% or more of the users will consume BI services via their mobile devices. It is also predicted that more than half of all the existing BI users will go mobile. Thus, the shift over of the BI to mobile platforms is felt strongly for the coming two years.
Mobile Business Intelligence not only provides real-time decision-making but also effective operational methods. Though there are many complexities in the BI, the mobile devices primarily the androids and apple devices are capable to handle the complications very effectively. Substantial benefits have been enjoyed by investing in BI in recent years. And with BI being a top initiative within the organization, Mobile BI is an important component of the BI infrastructure. As further enhancements, the organization will get more efficient, agile and competitive.
Of all the mobile devices available to access the BI services, the ipad is the preferred platform for implementing Mobile Business Intelligence. The ipad required no skilled personnel or required minimal training to use the device. As for the procedure of embracing the MBI goes, mobile devices simply needs to be fed from the already existing enterprise Business Intelligence applications and systems and data may be stored on mobile devices. The data storage can either be on the servers, devices or as most customers prefer data has to be fed on both server as well as devices. In a recent poll taken a great majority of respondents expect data to reside on both - devices and servers.
Reproduction of the desktop reports for distribution via mobile device is done seamlessly with desktop security protocols. New technologies like HTML5 make Mobile BI easy on any device. Thus, with MBI vital company data can be accessed safely even when on a drive setting high standards of agility within the organization.
