He attended Charlotte Country Day School for his primary and part of his secondary schooling, and also enrolled at the American School of Paris for the completion of his secondary education. While attending this school, Xavier studied higher level courses in English, Physics, Maths and French, and lower level courses in Economics and Psychology. Aside from that, he also attended an additional course Theory of Knowledge (Philosophy), and took part in pan-European Maths competition held in Sweden.
Afterwards, Xavier Thoma read for a Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics and Management at Oxford University. He then began his career as corporate finance analyst with JP Morgan & Co. Ltd. and was soon promoted to Associate. After JP Morgan, he was recruited by Morgan Stanley & Co. Ltd. where spent 3 years conducting transactions executions, advising on negotiation tactics and strategy, and providing corporate valuations. In his final year, he was promoted to Vice President of Morgan Stanley and given the responsibilities for client selection, staffing of junior professionals and client conflict management.
In 2003, Xavier Thoma co-founded Globefin European Advisors Ltd. to advice a $700 million private investment group. As Chief Executive Officer and Director of the firm, Xavier designed and coordinated research selection process and validated investments . He was also co-head of portfolio selection and head of the Fund’s research committee. He assumed the responsibility of overseeing marketing agents to raise capital from investors for new products and negotiated with major service providers including administrators, legal counsel, auditors, leverage providers and custodian. Through his years of experience in the financial services sector, Xavier Thoma has gained in-depth knowledge of asset management and investment banking.
