What Would Happen to the World Without Storage Tanks?
Author: richelleloughney | Posted: 12.03.2012Storage tanks, for all their efficiency in design, are an important part of any factory or facility. The big, hollow vats are responsible for an essential part of any process: mass production, waste management, and water heating. Imagine a day when plants and households are seen without storage tanks or any means of keeping liquids. What would the world look like without a simple storage tank to keep water or anything fluid?
No safe and clean source of water. Water treatment facilities rely on storage tanks to keep cured water to be given to the localities. One tank can take one million gallons or less than four million liters of water enough for two million people to consume eight glasses of water in one day. Without having a tank to support that quantity, urban and rural areas within several miles can be significantly affected by the deficiency of potable water.
No waste treatment. Waste water along with unsafe materials has to be correctly kept and disposed of. Waste water is harmful to people and nature; leaving it in the open may cause an epidemic. Storage tanks address that problem by acting as containers for wastes that need to be taken to facilities for treatment.
No supply of fuel. Airports along with other transit facilities have their own above ground tanks store where they keep fuel. Storage tanks help the businesses operate efficiently by maintaining the passenger planes and other types of transport all tanked up. Without using a storage tank available, they will have to get their fuel in other places. More importantly, emergencies such as aircraft running on fumes may not be dealt with since the transit center lacks its own storage facility.
No chemical safety. Factories buy rectangular tanks that can maintain corrosive chemicals for business use. In this situation, the tank itself needs to refuse the harsh and corrosive qualities of chemical substances the factory may use. The lack of a storage tank can hamper a factory’s capacity to develop goods and raise the chance of employees getting chemical burns and other industrial incidents.
No warm water. Warm water is stored in storage tanks, for residential or industrial use. They provide a stable source of hot water that keeps organizations running smoothly. Production capabilities will be severely hampered if there is no storage tank to support the hot water; getting people to carry hot water from the supplier to the factory is just not a feasible option.
