More than 2000 people are affected in the United States due to bone cancer every year. Even adolescents and children are very likely to develop bone cancer. The tumor is malignant and the functioning of the bone cells is destroyed regularly. Mostly, bone cancer occurs in the long bones of the body such as the legs and the arms. There are two main types of bone cancer. one is the primary bone cancer and the other is the secondary bone cancer. primary bone cancer originates in the bone and secondary bone cancer spreads or metastasizes to the bone from another site which is already affected due to cancer. # Pain

In many cases of bone cancer, the pain is at the location of the tumor. This is considered to be a number one symptom which is reported among the sufferers. One can feel this pain during prolonged periods of activity or during the night. The pain will usually become very severe during the night. This will happen as cancer will progress. However, pain and cancer can be present for several months even after the patient happens to see a doctor. If pain is being experienced in the foot or the leg and if bone cancer is being suspected, the doctor must be seen so that a thorough medical examination can be done.

# Lump

This is one of the most common symptoms of bone cancer in foot and ankle. Sometimes, there will be a lump on the bone and sometimes it will be on the surrounding tissues. However, it must be kept in mind that this is not common for all types of bone cancer. However, that mass is not necessary for bone cancer to be present.

# Joint tenderness and fracture

The bone is weakened a lot due to bone cancer. This can lead to fractures. This may happen even though there is no occurrence of any major trauma. One can simply stand up from the seated position and this must be enough for cracking up a weakened bone. Tender bones and inflammation can also be a very common sign of bone cancer.
