Wedding Insurance and Winter Wedding Decorations

Winter weddings may not have the sunshine, but you can still bring the sparkle with some great seasonal decorations. If you’ve chosen a cosy winter ceremony, here are some ways to spice it up with simple touches:

Flowers:

Stick to seasonal flowers as they’ll be the most reasonably priced and won’t have to travel from some far-flung destination at this time of year. Roses or orchids are a good bet for winter, and you could add willow, fir and berries for a warm but wintry feel. Shades of deep red such as burgundy and claret look great in winter, and will work with the flowers that are in season.

Atmosphere:

Candles and lanterns provide soft lighting, and can help set the mood for a cosy winter wedding. You can also add traditional winter scents to the air, such as cinnamon, apple and even satsuma.

Accessories:

Work with the winter theme when you’re choosing accessories for the bride and groom. You can play with winter red and green, but make sure you don’t end up looking like a Christmas decoration! A touch of sparkle does look good in winter, and a silver tiara, headpiece or forehead chain can really make a bright white dress come alive.

Cakes:

Give your wedding a snowy theme with a white cake and add glitter, snowflakes or even a snowman. If you feel like you need a hint of colour, you could use holly leaves with bright red berries. You don’t need to stick to fruitcake, but if you love Christmas cake then serve it up to your guests. If not, you could go for chocolate, with a variation such as orange or mint.

Invitations:

Get the winter wedding theme going with your invites. Although you don’t want them to look like a Christmas card, a sprinkle of silver, glitter or snow can capture your guests’ imaginations and get them into the spirit of a winter wedding.

Flowers and decorations are an important part of your big day, so it’s a good idea to take out Wedding Insurance to protect them against loss or damage. A good quality wedding insurance policy will cover you against theft, damage or failure of suppliers so get a quote and get it sorted out before you put down a deposit on anything else.
