The door gaskets should be checked constantly. Obviously if they perish the leak will make it necessary for the engine to work harder in order maintain the temperature. The best way to check the gaskets is to place a slip of paper between them when they are closed. A seal should be created so that the slip cannot be withdrawn. If it can the gaskets should be replaced.
