The True Cost of Hiring a Limo
Author: johncherrylp | Posted: 11.02.2012When it comes to renting a limo from a limo company, there are many factors that go into determining how much that ride will cost. This is why you probably will not find a standard amount that a limo rents for when you research the price of a limo online. The best way to find out how much a limo will cost for you is to consider the following factors and comparing several companies’ quotes before you choose one for your big event.
One of the biggest factors that goes into pricing a limo is the make and model of the vehicle. A limo service company that has a modern fleet of limos will charge more than a company that has older cars to rent. Companies that have Cadillacs, Hummers and Chrysler 300 limos are going to have higher prices than companies that have other models of limos.
A second factor that influences the price of limos is the size of the limo. The fewer passengers a limo holds, the cheaper it will be. The smallest limo typically holds a maximum of eight passengers while the largest limo can hold as many as 50 passengers. Keep in mind that the more people who want to ride in the limo, the cheaper your cost can be if you split the price with everyone involved.
You will also be quoted a price based on how many hours you are going to rent the limo. Most limos require a minimum number of hours for a rental. This number varies; however, it is usually between three and four hours. In fact, in busy seasons, such as the wedding season or prom season, that minimum could be increased to six or eight hours since they are in demand during those times. You will also get a price break if you rent during the week instead of on the weekend. Fridays and Saturdays are extremely popular days for limo rentals and the companies typically increase their rates significantly.
Your event will also have an impact on the price of the limo. Prom rates are going to be higher because only one vehicle is rented; whereas, a wedding will probably merit a lower price because more than one vehicle is usually booked and for a longer amount of time.
Finally, there are other fees associated with a limo rental that are highly variable. Mileage, amenities and tips are just three of the additional fees you will need to decide upon before you rent a limo. Be sure to ask any and all questions prior to signing a contract so you know exactly what the final bill will be when your evening arrives.
