Every missionary with a vision of evangelism sacrifices his personal life including the comfort of his or her family. Mission evangelism is seen by the western society as something that involves a lot of commitment and discipline. By foregoing the comforts of what the world can offer, the missionary sets himself on a path of Higher calling and is therefore on a task that cannot be compared to anything else on earth.
There is no such thing as successful evangelism mission unless the mission is blessed by God. Many evangelists start out with lots of passion, and may be support from a few family members, friends or the local church only to find that he has been highly ineffective. He does not realise that the first step to successful evangelism mission starts from asking the Almighty if this is the right step to take. He needs to ask himself is he has a clear calling from God to get on the mission field. Many well known and successful evangelists have waited for many years for Gods calling before resigning from their secular jobs.
Once you are clear that God wants you to be on the mission field, you will need to discuss your decision with your immediate family members. This may include your wife, children who are old enough to understand your decision and your parents. If you are not finding the support that you thought should have been there, ask God to give you an answer. Discuss with your church elder or pastor your decision and ask for advice. They might have travelled this road many years back and will have valuable lessons from their life for you.
Once you have crossed the first and most important steps in your path to Mission and Evangelism, you need to prayerfully prepare yourself. Without a monthly salary or a comfortable life style, things will be a lot different to what you may have been used to. Mentally preparing yourself and your family will help you understand and adjust to what is to come. Once you are on the field, there should not be a day when there is a step taken without asking God for counsel. With God on your side, you must truly believe that there can be nobody against you. Think of the great rewards that await you in heaven and the souls being lost to the world daily.
