The Fascinating Town of Rota

In the Bay of Cadiz location there is Rota, a very fascinating tourist destination thanks to the magnificent beautiful beaches it has. The town itself is also a great beauty and it has numerous monuments which call tourists from all over the world. This is the place where most festivals take place and not in other towns within Spain. It has numerous festival compared to the rest with the most outstanding being pilgrimages, fairs, fallas, Easter and Carnival.

Founded by Phoenicians, the town has been populated from way back and then passed to Romans, then the Moors who used the town as a defend fortress against the common attacks. The location at the bay is what made people scramble to win Rota in history. The historic value of Rota is evident in the many monuments it has including the huge marina just by the fishing port. Fishermen here are still busy in their traditional tasks.

Castillo de Luna in the Old Town is an attraction in Rota. It was an Arabian fortress but is currently used as a Town Hall and tourist information office is found within the palace. Just opposite is the 15th century church of Iglesia de la O showcasing beautiful gothic façade. The interior of the church has important art works. There are various other churches and palaces within the Old Town with each having a story to tell.

The playa de la Costilla beach can be accessed from the old town with ease and the services here are excellent. This is a beach made up of clear waters and golden sands and it is everything any tourist can ask for in a beach. It is excellent as far as accessibility, cleanliness; information services, security and leisure offering are concerned. The environment is respected here and you will find it to be an excellent place to spend a holiday in Rota Costa Ballena.

Costa Ballena is only a few minutes from Rota and it is a luxurious tourist resort along this beautiful beach. It even has a 36 holes golf course and magnificent ocean views making it a delight for all who spend some time here.
