Teach your Child how to be Responsible
Author: osa | Posted: 21.12.2011Once there lived two boys in a kingdom who looks the same. One of them was the prince of the land and another was the son of the farmer. The prince was a snobbish boy who used to threaten the servants and trouble them without any reason. The king had no idea about his son’s intolerable behavior. Being the future king, he would have understood his responsibilities; but it seemed that he loved to tease people and make them annoyed.
One day the prince went out with his father to visit different villages of the kingdom. The king was well known all around the land for his honesty and loyalty to his people. After reaching to a particular village, the king left the snobbish prince in an open ground to enjoy the natural beauty. After the king left the place, the prince started annoying the villagers. After sometime the king returned to the place unannounced where he had left his son.
Watching his real character, the king started scolding him. To save his own skin, the prince told the king that it was all done by the boy who live in the same kingdom and just look like him. However, the King, seeing what a lying snitch this person was, concluded that the boy in the village must be his real son, the Prince. So the King took the boy back with him to the palace, and left the real Prince in the village. After spending some days the life of a common man, the prince understood his fault and went back to his father to ask mercy for all his previous behavior. The king forgave the prince and took him back into the palace as he learned his responsibilities.
Responsibility is that particular trait that a child learns in the initial years of the life. When we are kids, our parents don’t expect us to earn money or to do the household tasks; but knowing and understanding the basic responsibilities can help us in leading a good life in the future. A responsible person is loved and admired everywhere. Being the first teacher of a child, the parents can help their kids to learn this art. There are some suggestions for teaching your child to be responsible:To teach anything to your kid, the parents need to be a role model first. When parents display a responsible nature, the kids automatically learn this art of leading a healthy life Responsibility is also to show empathy to others, especially the elder members of the family. In a family where kids live with their grandparents, kids learn this behavior in a quite early age Give children age-appropriate tasks to be responsible for. Let a child do whatever the child is capable of doing. As soon as the child is able to wash or dress by self, encourage the child to do so.
Don't overwhelm a child with too many tasks. Take into account the child's ability and temperament and give tasks the child can be successful at Life is not a bill of rights; it is a bill of responsibilities. If children grow up without a sense of responsibility and are unable to fulfill the myriad obligations of society, they are liable to become depressed and withdrawn. So help your child to be responsible so that a life of worthiness can be enjoyed by the child.
