We all know well that process of product development comprises of many steps. A lot of people are in charge of different stages of the development. It starts with concept generation at the front end and eventually ends with the patent engineer registering the product or patent, so that it cannot be duplicated or copied by a different company. There are patent attorneys who can take care of the process, although patent engineers play an important role from research of the technical aspects of the product to evaluation of the actual invention.

An engineer is important person, even without any specific information about the law, as he or she offers technical expertise which is why they are picked from technical background rather than from a legal background. The process will also include creating a draft of the specifications and prosecuting the patent application. The process of development of the product itself has many stages. It includes generating an idea for a product based on a client requirement or on a particular problem that the product is supposed to solve. Besides these there will be numerous cycles where the designs will be drafted, evaluated, corrected and then re-evaluated until a final design is approved.

This leads to the actual engineering and manufacturing process which is quite important for the product to be patented. This is because the patent is most likely to be rejected if the engineering of the product isn’t sound. Plenty of technical expertise therefore has to go into the process to actually make it a success. The technical implementation itself has several steps start from quality management to scheduling of the development process. The engineering operations have to be planned in advance and the dependencies have to be notified too. Monitoring and feedback are also important steps before the final product gets ready for commercialization and patenting.
