Liverpool City Centre Things to Do
Author: DirectRooms1 | Posted: 30.11.2011Liverpool is one of the busiest cities in the world and there are plenty of things to do for those staying in Liverpool city centre hotels.
Sports in Liverpool
There are many things that Liverpool is famous for and one of them is sport. Liverpool has two football clubs in the Premier League; Liverpool and Everton, and a day out at a football match is considered to be something of an occasion when in the city. Another sport that is popular in the city is horse racing and Liverpool is home to one of the most famous horse races in the world; the Grand National, held at the Aintree Race Course in April.
Shopping in Liverpool
Liverpool has a variety of shops from the independent stores selling anything from vintage clothes to art, to the big designer labels housed in one of the city’s large shopping areas such as Liverpool One or Cavern Walks. The Albert Dock is also a good stopping point for those who want to spend money.
Music and the Arts in Liverpool
Liverpool is also famed for its music. While many people know that the Beatles started life in the city, playing in the Cavern Club, there are many more musical venues for visitors. The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the oldest in the country and shows regular concerts. Theatres such as the Everyman and Playhouse are credited with launching the careers of a number of famous actors and playwrights, and the Liverpool Shakespeare Festival is held each year in venues such as the Cathedral.
