Author: hostarticles | Posted: 02.06.2012Commercial carpets are used at places where the traffic is high so that they can withstand the wear and tear. You would find commercial carpet in an array of choice. The types include Berber, level loop and multilevel loop. However, it is one of the easiest things to install carpet on the floor yet the process needs time, required skill and most importantly patience. If you have the right tools and follow the detailed manual, you would surely be able to see that the carpet installation is completed successfully. You can either hire a professional or do it yourself to install the rug.
If you are planning to do it yourself then you need to follow certain tips so that it is done in the perfect way and look professional as well. The first thing that you need to do is to remove old flooring. You cannot install any type of carpet onto existing carpet or carpet pad. Make the process easier by removing all the moldings engulfing the installation area’s perimeter. Roll the carpet after pulling it up from the tackless strips. After doing this, ensure that the subfloor is dry and clean. Install tackless strips tightly all around the perimeter of the room keeping a space of ½ inch between the wall and the strip.
Now, the carpet pad strips need to be laid down on the new tackless strips. For installing commercial carpet, you would always need a carpet strip, which would overlap the area on the floor by a minimum of 4 inches. Do not forget to keep scrap board underneath the incision in order to shield the underlying carpet. You would not need to make use of a knee kicker to attach as well as stretch the carpet down the tackless strips. The installation would be completed once you tuck the carpet between the tackless strips and wall.
