How to access audio on DVD?

DVD players have standard stereo analog audio outputs that can be connected to any stereo system or stereo TV with stereo audio inputs. DVD players also have digital audio outputs that can be connected to any AV receiver with digital audio inputs. You must use either digital optical or digital coaxial audio connections to access Dolby Digital or DTS 5.1 surround sound audio.
