Home theatre and satellite tv installation -an overview

Today there are so many options for home entertainment and TV systems that could send a homeowner completely insane trying to figure out all the options and which one is right for them. There are three main options to consider: the basic TV set up with an antenna, satellite TV and then the full range home theatre system. All of these options can provide you with an excellent TV experience.

HOME THEATRE: Of these, the leading and most expensive option is home theatre installation. This option requires many audio and video components to be combined and generally requires a skilled technician to handle all the connections and set up. Installing a home theatre system may include TV installation, whether the TV is LCD, LED or plasma, or it could go as far as a projector and screen installation. Whether you decide on a TV or projection system make sure your installer includes DVD or Blu-Ray players, speakers, remote controls and any accessories you want as part of their package. Many companies will charge extra for these components and you don’t want to be hit with any hidden charges.

SATELLITE TV: For Satellite TV installation, the ongoing costs are not nearly as high as home theatre costs, but there are still several facets of satellite television that you want to keep in mind. First, note that satellite TV is known to have issues during storms as the satellite signal has trouble reaching the ground. Providers are working to improve this, but this problem is not as of yet resolved. Also, consider if you want analogue or digital (HDTV) reception. Since analogue is being phased out, it makes sense to go the digital route, but if you’re current TV is analogue it is an option to consider. When choosing an installation company make sure they handle Ku and C Band set ups and of course provide quality satellite dishes and decoders. It is also recommended to get at least a two year warranty so that if anything goes wrong it will be corrected at no cost.

BASIC TV SETUP: The least expensive, but still good, option for TV entertainment nowadays is the basic TV antenna. TV antennas offer the consumer an inexpensive way to enjoy quality TV and generally work very well. People do sometimes report TV reception problems, but there are a few things you can try to alleviate that situation. First, try changing the antenna’s location by moving it near a window, away from other electronics or up as high as possible. If these locations don’t work you may want to look into a rooftop antenna or possibly buying a new digital antenna, assuming you have a digital TV. If you do buy a digital antenna make sure it has a built in amplifier, as this is the component that truly matters for reception.

All in all, the choices for home TV entertainment systems are great. Your choice will depend on your TV watching preferences and of course your budget.
