Just like other yesteryear actresses like Jaya Prada, Hema Malini, Jaya Bacchan, and the nomination of Rekha for Rajya Sabha is the latest development in the political and entertainment industry. Expressing joy for her feat about getting nominated to the Rajya Sabha, Rekha said that she was very happy about having given this honour and hoped to reach the hearts of people with her political career just as she did with her wonderful acting career. Along with the cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar and businesswoman Anu Aga, Rekha also received nomination to the Rajya Sabha. This is indeed an addition to the long list of actors who have tried their hand at politics.

A lot of celebrities form the entertainment industry has expressed their happiness over the nomination of Rekha for Rajya Sabha. The nomination came after the Indian President Pratibha Patil approved of the before mentioned names to the Rajya Sabha. Politics has been a preferred option for many actors and actresses over the years after enjoying a successful career in films.
