How to Take Care of your Bird: a Few Words of Advice
Birds kept as loving pets should always receive proper treatment for healthy living. In doing so, there are different things that need to be considered at the outset. Bird cages, naturally, figure prime in that list. Selecting the right kind of cage is very important since a wrong choice here can affect the psychological well being of the bird. You must first ensure that the size of the bird cage is all right. It should neither be too large nor too small.
Apart from Bird cages, there are other important things to consider in caring for pets. Nutrition figures foremost among them. In the wild, your pet would normally feed on insects, nectar, leaves and other food fit for its kind. Inside a domestic setup, however, you should ensure that it receives a diet high on nutritional elements. Regular supply of water is equally important.
For best results, it is advisable to place the bird cage in an area where the distribution of fresh air, sunlight, and humidity is in balanced order. It is also the responsibility of the owner to see that the bird has enough shade to rest under. Temperature fluctuations can cause harm to the bird. Hence, look after that aspect as well.
The size of the bird cage is normally determined by a number of factors. We have mentioned one of them already-the size of the bird. Another important consideration here is the area of the house where the cage is to be placed. Is it big enough to have a large cage in the middle of other things? Space becomes a major problem in cases where the bird owner stays in an apartment setup.
The perch you choose for the bird should be free of pesticides. Commercial perches fashioned from wood would be ideal. The main function of the perch is to keep your pet away from any unhygienic factors.
Last but not the least, check the food bowl for shallowness and width. Deep, small cups would be a big trouble for birds. The shallow varieties, on the other hand, help the bird see and observe what it is eating. It also draws and attracts the bird cage occupant towards the food.
