Tours in Dresden City Centre

When you stay in a Dresden City Centre hotel, you will have one of Europe’s richest jewels literally at your feet. One of the best ways of getting to know this fabulous city is by taking one of the many tours available.

The popular and comprehensive Great Discovery Tour sees Dresden from all angles, including a bus trip, journey on the water and ride on the funicular railway in a three-hour, hugely enjoyable and informative trawl through the city.

Once you have seen how efficient the public transport system is in Dresden you may decide to do your own exploring, but visitors from London may be surprised to find red double-decker buses here too! These iconic buses offer 90-minute open-top tours with a guide pointing out places of interest along the way. There is also a hop-on hop-off service using a single-purchase ticket that lasts from 9:30am until 5:00pm. Audiotape-guides are available in eight different languages, and include extras such as guided tours of attractions like the Zwinger. A tour of the city’s historic quarter by night is also an option at the end of the day, with a night watchman as guide.

The bus tours run from April to October. Tours depart every 30 minutes and the buses make circular tours that take in the major attractions. During the period November to March the tour times are 10:00am to 3:00pm. There are 22 hop-on and hop-off points along the route of the tour, and some journeys can be continued into the next day if it is all just too much to take in.
