Things to Do in Killarney City Centre

The town of Killarney may not be huge, but the list of activities that it presents to visitor is enormous. There are loads of adventures to be had when visiting this part of Ireland. One of the most popular activities in these parts is fishing. The lakes are heavily populated with a selection of fish that include salmon and brown trout, which is a speciality of this region. Fishing can easily be done from the shore or enjoyed in deeper waters from a boat.

Take a long stroll or hire a bicycle from O’Sullivan’s Bike Shop, and head out for the day to explore along the local nature trails in Killarney National Park. The woodlands walking trails are well established, which has made exploring Killarney by foot a very common pastime.

A horseback ride through the Gap of Dunloe is something to be remembered, or you might enjoy a relaxing boat trip from Ross Castle through some of the Killarney lakes. You can even stop on Ross Island or Innisfallen for a picnic while you marvel at the splendid views of the purple mountains. If you still have energy left over, climb the hill up the spectacular Torc Waterfall.

Hotels in Killarney city centre will be able to offer advice on some of the best places to enjoy a day of golf. One place is the Killarney Golf and Fishing Club. While the men are out enjoying their own activities, the ladies can enjoy one of Ireland’s oldest traditions – afternoon tea – at Miss Courtney’s Tea Rooms.
