Fujairah Things to Do

In addition to the range of sea-based activities in the Gulf of Oman such as jet skiing, snorkelling, diving and sailing here are a wide range of sights easily accessible from Fujairah hotels.

Here are a few of the sights that you should not miss:

- Bithnah Fort – this splendid fort once defended the route through the Hajar Mountains to Fujairah via Wadi Ham.

- Fujairah Fort – around 350 years old, this fort was badly damaged in the early part of the 20th Century by British bombardment, but has now been restored to its former glory and is beautifully lit at night.

- Fujairah Heritage Village – close to the Fort of Fujairah, this village provides an historical reconstruction of ancient village life with a superb selection of traditional village houses (known as ‘arish) and typical fishing boats made of palm fronds (called shasha). The village allows visitors to experience a living reconstruction of typical village life on the east coast of the United Arab Emirates.

- Hail Palace – this ancient castle and watchtower was the summer palace of the Fujairah sheikhs and is located in the beautiful district of Wadi Al Hail. Archaeological excavations suggest that there were settlements here dating back to the Iron Age.

- Bidiya Mosque – the oldest mosque in the United Arab Emirates that is still in use, Bidiya Mosque has a unique construction of four domes held by one central pillar. The site here dates back to the Late Bronze Age and there are two small watchtowers on the hill behind the mosque.
