Should Parents Compare their Children

Each child is born with a unique character and parents should not compare their children with others. Parents should also not send their child to school before they complete three years. There are many cases where parents overburden their children to learn many things and when they are not able to do, parents start comparing their child with others and humiliate them. They think this way their child will work hard and fulfill their expectation.

The reality is that it will make the situation more worst and the child will feel depressed. This should not be done and the child should learn one thing at one time and this will make clear in which activity he or she can excel. The parents should also know how to deal with the stubborn child. They should behave in a balance way and they should ignore the child mistakes and pamper them. Moreover they should not beat the child for small things.

Child comparison is a social problem and all parents make sure that this is not going to help them out as it will develop inferior quality, jealousy and violence among the children. Parents can compare but they should keep within themselves and child should never be involved in this discussion. A child should neither be condemned in front of other children nor should the other children be praised too much in front of your children. Child should not be given junk food frequently and parents themselves should eat healthy food and the child will automatically follow this. Consuming too much of junk food makes difference in the behavior of human being.

When the parents compare their children with others, it causes discouragement in children and they start thinking that they are not capable of doing any job. Therefore comparison must be stopped and it should be repeated. My parents always compare mw with others whenever I do something wrong. It’s really annoying for me and they always ask me that I should be more like that other kid. One thing I have observed that whenever I do something good, I never found my parents appreciating me in front of other child, this was really based. Parents should understand that every child is different and their capacity of doing the work also varies. When they start comparing their child, then they are hurting their child and losing the trust too from the child.

For parents it might be helpful to hold out a sibling or friend as an example. "Look how well Kirti study," you might say, so why can't you do that too?" But comparisons almost always backfire and your child is not Kirti.It's natural for parents to compare their kids, to look for a frame of reference about their milestones or their behavior. But don't let your child hear you doing it. Kids develop at their own pace and have their own temperament and personality. Comparing your child to someone else implies that you wish yours were different. Nor does making comparisons help change behavior.
