The Necessity of Ground Source Heat Pump
You might have come across the term “heat pump” but what exactly they are meant for is unknown to many of us. Ground source Heat pump is used for transferring heat from the ground directly to the house or building to heat up the living space. These pumps can even pre-heat hot water as well. These pumps make use of pipes which are buried in the garden or underground to extract the heat from there and pass it on for heating radiators and the air heating systems in your home or building.
These pumps circulate a mixture of water and antifreeze around ground loop which is buried underneath the ground. Heat from the ground is absorbed into the fluid which further passes through a heat exchanger to the pump. Since the ground maintains a constant temperature under the surface, these pumps can be used during any time of the year. Your amount of heat required depends upon the length of the ground and the size of your home. Longer loops can draw more heat from the ground in comparison to the small loops. As longer loops require more space to be buried in; therefore in case of space constraint a vertical borehole can be drilled in the ground.
These pumps prove to be advantageous as they can lower your fuel bills. They can reduce the amount of carbon emissions depending upon which fuel you are replacing. These pumps can conveniently heat your home and even provide you with hot water. They also require less maintenance so you don’t need to worry about them for years, once installed. As these pumps deliver heat at lower temperatures so they can constantly heat your home efficiently even during extreme winters. Their radiators do not get much heated up as in case of gas and oil boilers.
These pumps do not require a large area for installation and hence you can install them easily in the garden or the backyard of your house as per your convenience. They also do not require extensive drilling for fixing them up. These Ground source Heat pump help to keep the environment clean and green by reducing the burning of wood or coal for producing heat and warming up the living space.
