Why Cisco Thrives on As an Innovator Years After Its Early Success
Computer systems in the 80s were much different than today; systems were much more expensive and did much less, but engineers and businessmen and women saw several new uses for their personal computers. Before the 80s, no computer system was capable of sharing information with another system, and most computers were simply used as devices for inputting data, getting results and building programs. Xerox and Cisco were among the earliest businesses to help change the way computers shared information by developing successful routers for consumers. For Cisco, its success stems mainly from the routers it had produced that had gained much success, and even though they were not the first ones of their kind, they definitely were the best.
Products
Today, Cisco is recognized as one of the leading telecommunications businesses, and continues to make new, innovative items for consumers, from data centers to data security to even routers. Since its early days as a business, Cisco has helped bring the Internet to the mainstream crowds with routers and helped set up large computer networks for businesses to use to communicate internationally with consumers. It was Cisco who helped improve Internet communication, and without its routers and network configuration items, people may not have been able to video chat, send emails, or share information with friends, family and clients.
Today, the devices range from wireless routers which can serve as hotspots for wireless Internet, to Cisco SFP fiber modules that interface a motherboard and a fiber optic or copper wiring. Cisco tends to create products for particular consumers, giving them more configuration options to help them achieve their networking goals.
Success
Cisco’s success surfaced from its early networking products, but today, the company has a foothold in helping produce products that do things like transmitting data and securing cloud storage systems and data centers for companies. The brand has been a respected name to which millions of people pledge allegiance and which thousands of companies trust to keep their data centers free from any hackers and viruses. Cisco remains a trusted and respected brand because of the items it produces to complete the tasks a customer needs done. For example, the SFP fiber modules come in a variety of different configurations to appeal to the interests of shoppers to fit any Ethernet standard and communicate across any wiring configuration (copper or fiber optic). What once was a small, national company has transformed into a multi-national corporation that employees thousands of people and makes billions of dollars each year.
