Is it appropriate to wear elaborate heels with already formal prom dresses? Probably not. When shoe shopping for formal prom dresses, you will want to take into consideration the flashiness of the dress. If it already calls most of the attention, then you will want to go with shoes that do not catch your interest. On the flip side, if your dress is simple in color and length, a more glamorous heel will probably be best.

Remember you will be up and on your feet dancing and having fun with your friends, so comfortable shoes are a must. Search for shoes that have a nice fit and do not pinch your feet. It also helps to wear your shoes around the house and practice walking, or even dancing in them. This will allow you to become accustomed to them so your big night goes smoothly.
