India’s pioneering status in terms of education is considered to be of paramount importance worldwide. As a leading country, people need to buckle up for the fast changes which are rapidly changing the face of Indian society. Changes are good only if they bring improvement and peace to peoples’ lives. Youngsters of today have become more fascinated with technologies and gadgets. For them technology is their world, they can’t think anything outside it which is not related to their field of interest. Mobiles, laptops, palmtops have secluded people from their families, though; they become more efficient and confident about themselves. The bonds between families get severed by less communication and interaction with their youngsters.
Modernity in life is important. However, its importance needs to be measured with the requirement of one’s personal needs. Students right from their school start using mobiles and cameras rather than studying their course in order to learn and increase their knowledge. There are many cases where the families are stinking rich and the lads are considered brats who are given access to use anything thing of their choice. Exercise of control in a person’s life counts a lot because in near future this quality brings sea change for the good. Life without hassles seems to be much reliving; however, becoming a hardcore technology user doesn’t ease anything. It may process faster than a normal human brain but in the end children need to develop themselves rather than depending on technologies.
Today the situation within schools has changed to a large extent; large screens have replaced blackboards, some youngsters bring digital notepads rather than registers for penning down their tasks as required. They play digital games on their PSPs rather than participating in outdoor games. Life for such children remains more like a closed- cocoon. They don’t experience the changes of life and time because of their blind involvement with technology. The other downside of too much usage of technology is hampered growth which affects physical, mental and emotional strength. They tend to get lethargic and obese which may harm their life in near future. Lack of exercise and physical exertion may lead to many diseases like cancer and blood pressure to name a few.
Modernity in limits is good for any civilization; however, excess of anything can be harmful as well. Prometheus, a Greek mythological character was punished for stealing from Zeus his fire. He was tied to a rock and everyday he had to climb up a mountain and whenever he fell down an eagle used to eat his liver. Each time his liver also resurrected when he used to climb up a mountain. The purpose of this story is to make children aware of grave consequences they may have to face if they don’t use their faculties wisely.
To prevent young children from becoming slaves to technology parents need to take control of their time and actions. They not only need to be guided on the right path but also need to understand that technology is a creation of the brain itself. Children don’t have been fascinated about a creation, they need to comprehend its use and wisely go for them. Youngsters should become more observant and good listeners in order to be aware of the situation crisis, rest will go hand in hand.
