How to Generate Students’ Interest towards their Studies
Encouragement is that magical thing that can boost anyone to pursue the goal and also increases the level of confidence among people. Growing children need it the most from the side of their parents, family members, peers and teachers. When children get encouraged towards doing something, they generate more interest in accomplishing the task. This is most important for the purpose of academic success. It is seen these days that children are getting disconnected from their academic life. The basic reason of that can be said to be the lack of motivation.
When parents beat or start scolding them to finish their studies, they get annoyed and avoid their parents’ instructions. It is also true that parents should expect from their child according to their age. If a child is in nursery we should not expect the child to solve long mathematical problems. Doing so can effect the child adversely. To make your child take an interest in studying you need to put in some extra support and encouragement. There are some basic things that parents and teachers need to take into consideration while motivating children towards studies. These are
1-Parents need to first know what the school expects from the child. Knowing the children’s school curriculum can help parents teach them according to the needs
2-Children should be comfortable while studying. As adults, we need to take care of their areas of interest and module our strategies accordingly
3-We need to provide enough study materials to the children. Apart from the study materials, others things such as a pencil with a doll on the top or a colorful pencil box filled up with crayons can be a booster for the child. Give some space and let him do something on his own.
4-Making a daily routine according to the convenience of the children also helps them in doing their studies well. Parents can fix hours for their children’s studies, for their free play and for the activities they love to do.
5-After a whole day’s work, parents need to review what a child has done in the whole day. They need to check the home work done by their children and also need to check whether they have done them correctly or not
6-There are some children who always want their parents to be around them during their studies. Parents need to support their child and also keep a close eye on their works so that the child can make serious efforts
7-Our aim is not to make the child study more. The main objective should be that the child should take the responsibility of success eventually. We can encourage them by celebrating their success even if it is a small class test
The school environment and peers are also motivating factors for the children. When children see their peers they get positively influenced tend to study well or do well in their academics. Teachers can also create a platform for children in the class room where they can exchange their ideas and express their views.
