MBA or Master of Business Administration is one of the most popular post graduate courses, not just in India, but throughout the world. One of the reasons for the popularity is the extensive scope that the field offers. MBA graduates can find employment across diverse spheres, ranging from healthcare sector to industrial and manufacturing sectors. People wanting to pursue MBA have two choices – part time or full time. A lot of people who are working professionals prefer taking up part time management degree. However, the benefits of full time MBA are more enhanced in several ways. Read on below for a discussion on full time and part time MBA in various aspects.

Development of skills

Skills are as important as academic credentials for an MBA graduate. Leadership qualities, communication skills, team work and troubleshooting abilities are best developed when a student is involved in the course all the time. Besides, being a part of student activities, seminars, conferences, national symposiums, workshops and national students’ meets can add a lot of valuable lessons to the academic course work. In this regard, MBA definitely takes the cake and the cherry on it too.

Overall development

Full time degree is also better for the overall development of a student. It gives students more time to interact with each other as well as the faculty. Concepts of MBA cannot be learnt within classrooms alone. A student has to devote a lot of time to extra studies, visit libraries, read international journals and make one aware of management principles being followed in different parts of the world. A part time student cannot devote so much time to developing skills and knowledge, beyond what is taught in classrooms.

Building a circle

One of the most important aspects about making a career in management and business is to build contacts. Since a MBA gives you more time to spend with batch mates, juniors and seniors, the kind of network which you can build is much stronger when compared to networking in part time courses. This is one of the strongest points in favor of a full time course and a benefit which you should not ignore.

Financial aspect

If you are a working professional and cannot afford to give up your job, a part MBA can be a good way of furthering your knowledge while still being independent. Management courses are very expensive with the fees for two years running into lakhs in many institutes. If you are able to earn while studying, you can lessen a lot of financial burden. Further, you also have a couple of years of experience even while you are studying, which can benefit you on the professional front. In this regard, part time MBA definitely seems lucrative.

On the whole, full time MBA does dominate in terms of advantages. However, part time MBA is the next best option for people who cannot take up full time courses. If you can allot a couple of years exclusively to education after working for a few years or after bachelors degree, full time is the better option.
