Shopping in Singapore: Best Experience for Visitors
Although there are many shopping centers in Asia and the world, if we count the names of the cities which are very popular for the shopping then we recall few names like Hong Kong, Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Copenhagen, London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris and many others. Now I would like to add another name which is not in this list but it is well known among the shoppers round the world which is Singapore a small and wonderful island country at the southern tip of the Malaya Peninsula.
Below are the some of the less popular shopping centers of the Singapore which also have a potential for its visitors to give them a wonderful shopping and holiday experience and are worth to give a visit.
Singapore River Side Area is famous for not only its market and lots of international brands shops but also famous among the tourists as a favorite hangout. Located near the mouth of the Singapore River, has its most important shopping mall that is Clarke Quay which is the centre of all shopping activities here.
China Town: Here one can find so much to explore and shopping. Budhas Tooth Relic Temple, Layor Sithi Vinaynagar Temple, Mosque Street, Pagoda Street, Banda Street, China Town Food Center are some of the best locations which are worth to visit in China Town. And for the site seeing purpose it is the ideal location as the lots of tourists flock to this place making this a famous hangouts for the visitors.
Little India: Although remains crowded most of the time(sometimes much crowded) place which attracts everybody and people come here for shopping and roaming. Covering an area of 500 by 700 squares meters has lots of local shops and eating outlets serving mainly Indian dishes like roti, parantha, daal, dosa, sambhar, chawal, sabzi, and local Singaporean dishes.
Sungei Road Thieves' Market: This name may attract you and it may also sound like that at this place stolen goods are sold, but let me tell you nothing like this happen; actually the name is a throwback to 1930’s era when thieves and criminals used to assemble here to hock their stolen things. In this flea market you can find used items or worn and torn items at dirt cheap rates. Old electrical goods, clothes & accessories, fancy shoes, CD/VCD, new and old books, old souvenirs, toys, household items, decorative objects, kitchenware, magazines, camera and blah blah.
Ann Siang Road: Comprising of the shops of the both sides of a street road that Ann Siang Road is another famous and much sought shopping destination of Singapore, here you can find lots of apparels shops and boutiques of designer’s, many patisseries shops, and much more to explore. But this place does not give much for the sightseeing lovers.
