Not So Popular Delhi Tourist Places to Visit During Sightseeing in Delhi
Everybody knows that the Capital city of India Delhi is home so many beautiful historical monuments, temples, Gardens, Museums and other religious places. I will not figure out these popular places as they are very famous among tourists. Here I will list some lesser known tourist places situated in Delhi that are worth a visit. ISKCON Temple is one of the largest Krishna temple in India and a sacred place as well. During Janmashtmi (Birth day of Lord Krishna) time the well decorated temple looks just amazing with thousands and thousands of devotees. The atmosphere of this place is so divine that it will inspire you to sit and meditate for some time.
Lodhi Garden, It is British era Garden which was laid in 1930 and it has several Mughal monuments built in 15th and 16th century. There are many lawns, shady trees, beautiful flowers, Duck ponds and above all this place is very peaceful. It is no less than a paradise for joggers and walkers, in the morning thousands of people can be seen doing jogging, walking and exercising. Safdarjung Tomb, It is a Garden Tomb with a marble mausoleum of Safdarjung, a powerful Priminister of Mughal emperor Muhammad Shah and it was built in 1754. The central tomb of the Mausoleum has a huge dome and it also has well maintained gardens. One can see many beautiful birds in the Garden, surrounding is peaceful and calm.
Purana Qila, a place for those who love exploring historical places. The place is surrounded by a small lake where people generally do boating, it’s place perfect for family outing. It was built by Pandavas and later modified by Humayun and Sher Shah Suri. Red sand stone was used to make this fort and it has three big gates. As the name suggests this place is not something very well decorated or a well planned one. Hauz Khas Village, it is not just place of old and historical building but a great place for shopping and eating as well. The building here has exquisite architecture with calm and serene environment.
National Gallery of Modern Art, a marvelous place having mix of modern and ancient art pieces. The architecture of the building is beautiful with a great collection of art work, paintings and sculptures. It is must visit place for those who admire different kind of arts. Crafts Museum, It is an excellent place for everyone that offers something to people of every age group. Craft works here include traditional embroidery, weaving, carving and pottery.
National Rail Museum which was opened for public in 1977 with an aim to show rich rail heritage of India. It's a favorite place for kids as there is toy train which offers a ride around the sites in the 10 acre museum. It has several very old railway coaches and different type of engines showcasing the history of Indian Railway and how it contributes in the growth of modern India.
Hanuman temple is a Hindu religious place situated in Connaught place and it gives you spiritual vibes when you are there in the temple. Other temples to visit in Delhi are Kalka Ji and Chattarpur temple. Nizamuddin Dargah is another popular religious and spiritual place for Muslims. It is as impossible to list all the Delhi Tourist places (even lesser known) in one article as to visit all tourist sites in one Delhi sightseeing tour. So you will have to come every now and then to experience all the less known Delhi tourist sites.
