My 5 Days in Chicago

The first place I visited was the Sears Tower; talk about a photo op! The Sears Tower which, while it is no longer the tallest building in the world, is still the tallest in the U.S, ended up being one of the coolest places I visited. I took the elevator up to the 103rd floor, over one thousand feet into the sky, for a one of a kind panoramic view of the city. On a good day, which mine was, you can see 4 states from the 103rd floor. Getting a chance to see the city from the top of the Sears Tower was well worth the $15 I paid for access. Visiting to the Sears Tower is an experience I would highly recommend.

Next on my list was the Navy Pier and Millennium Park. The Navy Pier has been around since 1916, and the Millennium Park is fairly new, completed in 2004. Both of the parks offer a huge variety of activities and beautiful landscaped areas including breathtaking gardens, scenic viewpoints, shops, rides, sights to see and other attractions. The Navy Pier even has an ice skating rink that is open air. The Millennium Park also offers a variety of theater performances and played host for Obama's victory speech in 2008. Both are considered major tourist attractions in Chicago and the ideal places to visit if you want to pack a lot of Chicago style entertainment and cuisine into a 5 day vacation. Because of the area's popularity you'll find several high quality accommodations offering cheap hotel rooms as well as city tour promotions.

The city itself is really what you go to Chicago for with it's delicious restaurants, fun nightlife and the many world famous theater venues that host prestigious Broadway shows starring big name actors as well as the up and coming, giving amateur theater actors a place to hone their craft. There are also a variety of laid back, old school bars offering live Jazz music by some of the world's greatest entertainers both old and new.

In closing I have to say that I plan on returning to Chicago soon and continue exploring all that this colorful city has to offer. The city flavor is enjoyable, and the night life is immense and the historical landmarks endless and I'm looking forward to my return.
