But the city had an uphill battle in the early part of this decade when city officials started using red light cameras to catch drivers who ran red lights. A few days or about a week after speeding or running a red light, drivers would receive the ticket in the mail.

After many issues, problems and arguments, the city removed and stopped using the red light cameras. The practice was discontinued in 2011. But that doesn’t change the Los Angeles speeding ticket cost to any drivers who were issued tickets by the cameras. Anyone who was caught running the red light was still liable for their actions. Those tickets are still valid and drivers who were caught must still pay the tickets to avoid any penalties or future problems with the law.
