Flats to Rent in North Leeds

It has often be quoted that when you are searching for a property to buy, the most important thing to consider is the location, and indeed this is a very true saying. It holds not only for anyone seeking to buy property but also for some one who wishes to rent as a friend of ours found out when she was looking for flats to rent. She was looking mainly for flats to rent in north Leeds so that she would be near her place of work.

When I bought my first house, I was still quite young and in those days it was quite a simple matter to purchase a property as long as you had the deposit and a steady job. I had just stared my first job a couple of years earlier and because I lived at home, I was able to save up quite a considerable amount of money. My parents were a lot wiser than me and knew that the time was right for me to buy a house because the market was a buyer’s market at the time and they also knew that I would just fritter away the money which I had saved.

So we started to look for a suitable property which was not too far away from my parents’ home and near to my work. The house which we eventually decided on was one which I still have to say is one of the nicest that I have ever lived in and I have a lot of fond memories of the place. A while ago, we decided that it was time to move and so we were about to put our house on the market but then we got the advice that it was the wrong time to sell property and that we should look into renting out the place.

We went and got an idea of the going rental rates and found out that it was better to have flats to rent out than one house since you got more revenue from renting out individual rooms than from renting out to a family. Another thing we learnt was that the location of the property was a large factor when it came to charging rent. A property which was near to the city centre would obviously be able to command greater rental income due to the fact that it was close to all the amenities of a city and anyone living there would save on travel costs.

What we were disappointed to learn was that since our house was not within the vicinity of a large university or hospital, then the rents which we could charge would not be as high as for those properties close to large institutes. So we decided not to convert the house to give us flats to rent in north Leeds, and just take what we could by renting out our house to a family which would hopefully take care of the place as we had done.
