Rishabh Batra of BIMTECH bags international placement
Rishabh Batra, who bagged an international placement, chose BIMTECH for his MBA because of the placement opportunities the B-School offers.
“Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) has an excellent placement record,” Rishabh Batra says. His confidence in BIMTECH was further fortified when he bagged an international placement with the Landmark Group in Dubai. What also tilted the balance in the B-School’s favour was the fact that it has an excellent faculty who have a depth of knowledge – both in theory as well as of the industry. Visiting faculty comes with rich field experience, with many of them working in self owned consultancy firms.
“I was offered the designation of Store Manager with Landmark Group’s Home Centre in Dubai. I find BIMTECH has equipped me with the unique skill sets the retail industry requires,” Batra is happy. He also has experience in fields like HR and Marketing. His training through the mandatory Summer Internship with a supermarket has proved to be extremely useful. “Believe me, the program at BIMTECH really makes you industry ready,” his emphatic statement leaves no place for doubts.
The two years at B-School have seen Batra transform from ‘just another engineer’ into a Manager with an engineering background. It boosted his self confidence and won him the much desired overseas placement.
A young man in love with the retail world for the dynamics of change it offers, Batra confesses, “Retail Management as a discipline helped me evolve. My background and knowledge gives me the confidence and freedom to experiment with the various aspects associated with a retail store. For example the visual aspects, the assortment mix, the ambience of the store, etc.”
He seeks growth. Both as a professional and as an individual. He looks forward to the interactions he is likely to have with the people he will to come across in a retail space. Batra is driven to go that step beyond ‘job satisfaction’. He plans to make his work a passion, an obsession.
Like a certain cricketer captain, who goes by the name of M S Dhoni, Rishabh Batra kept his cool during his interview. However, unlike Dhoni who has the whole country watching his every move, Batra faced a panel of four interviewers. Quite daunting for a new MBA. “I did not show it on my face and kept answering their questions one by one,” he reveals.
His parting shot is some very valuable advice for his juniors. “Thorough knowledge about the job, internship or additional projects is a must. During your interview, keep your numbers, facts and figures on your finger tips.” And like him, be cool and confident during your interview. It will show.
