Jubilate at the FORE School of Management, New Delhi
What can you expect when 170 professionals from the corporate world get together under one roof?
Brainstorming sessions? Seminars on what is the next big idea? An animated debate on global warming and green technologies?....
The list could go on….
But what if all the 170 are alumni of the FORE School of Management, New Delhi?
All you get is cacophonous laughter, lots of backslapping, and pretty much college day’s behavior.
The alumni Jubilate on the 24th of September 2011 was a great trip down memory lane for some of the alumni, while for the others, it was a great opportunity to network and catch up with long lost buddies from the FORE School of Management, New Delhi. There was the usual business about presentation of the Annual Report of FORE Alumni Network (FAN) activities, by the faculty coordinator, Dr. Anupam Narula, followed by a charmingly warm welcome address by Dr. Jitendra. K. Das, Director, FORE School of Management, New Delhi, lauding the alumni for bringing repute to the FORE School of Management. However, all the speakers showed their considerate side by keeping proceedings rather short and sweet. As experienced faculty members, they knew very well that the real business in an alumni meet of this magnitude, is ‘catching up’ with long time pals!
However, before winding up, Dr Jitendra K Das did mention the various programmes undertaken by the FORE School of Management, New Delhi, to strengthen the bond between the alumni and their alma mater. He encouraged the alumni to stay in touch with the institute and its faculty members.The President and Vice-President of FORE School of Management quickly made their points about the methods through which the strength of the institute-alumni association can be harnessed for the growth of ‘Brand FORE School of Management’.
With this, the ‘business-side’ of the evening was at an end, and it was time to party! While some of the alumni were hooked on to the short film taking them down memory lane, others were busy hunting out batchmates. Infact, quite a few of the 170 alumni present, spilt outside the campus of FORE School of Management, with some of them deciding to reignite their passion for the ‘paranthas’ and ‘masalacoke’ of their favourite ‘Dhaba’, before diving back in, to watch the spectacular cultural extravaganza, put up by the current batches; resplendent with rock band performances, a semi-classical dance, skits, and a FORE School of Management Quiz!
The interactive sessions between the alumni and current students of the FORE School of Management turned out to be quite an affair, with the current students displaying an insatiable appetite for information of the corporate world, and their experienced seniors from the corporate world guiding them with matching aplomb. As the evening drifted towards a conclusion, groups of alumni were seen departing together to continue partying someplace else, while others were found animatedly reliving their wonderful days in FORE School of Management, New Delhi. There were promises of keeping in touch, with everyone looking forward to reuniting in the next alumni jubilate of the FORE School of Management, New Delhi.
Another extremely important alumni-institute interaction was the ‘Rendezvous’, held on the 9th of December 2011 organized at the FORE School of Management, New Delhi, ‘Rendezvous’ invites some of the eminent alumni, who have made a mark for themselves in the corporate world, to share their experiences with the current batches. This time around it was Mr. Neeraj Tomar, Senior VP, Jones Lang La Salle – a graduate from the 6th batch of FORE School of Management - and Mr. Vivek Malhotra, Marketing Head, Idea Cellular, a graduate of the 1st batch of FORE School of Management. The session was over-subscribed with the greenhorns from the current batches shooting questions after questions, which were handled with remarkable patience and detail, on the part of the corporate honchos.
