Function of a Diesel Particulate Filter

A Diesel Particulate filter, which is popularly known as (DPF) can be referred to as a device, which removes diesel particulate material or soot from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine. If you apply wall flow diesel filters, it generally removes 85% of the soot. Such is the efficiency that at times it accounts for 100% removal of soot. Filters are off various types. Some are off single use. They are disposable once they are fully accumulated of ash. While some even, burn the accumulated particulate with the help of a catalyst or even a fuel burner.

The history of these filters can be traced back to as early as 1980. In those days, it was mainly used in non-road machines. It was only in the year 1985 these were used in automobiles. The DPF cleans the exhaust gas by forcing the gas through flow through the filter. There are variants of this technology available in the market. However, as a buyer you need not worry as each of those have fine filtration, durability, minimum pressure drop, mass production stability. The more important thing is that they are all low cost. If the need be you can also opt for Catalytic convertors.

It is an exhaust emission control device. The main function of it is to convert toxic chemicals that are there in the exhaust of an internal combustion engine into less noxious substances. The first widespread use of such convertors was seen in the year 1975 in U.S.A. They can still be used in most automobile exhaust systems. Why only automobile? if you are planning to use the in generator, sets they will of good use. Even trucks, buses, or mining equipment, need these convertors. If you do need something to transfer exhaust gas you need to make a choice from the above two elements.
