Ford Figo facelift seen undergoing test runs

It has been more than two years since Ford launched Figo hatchback in the Indian car market in 2010. The journey has been extremely good for the small car so far and is now all set to undergo a major facelift again. Thanks to Figo, Ford went on to become one of the strongest players in the domestic market. Figo won many awards following the year it was launched in India giving threat to many of its close rivals. What made it popular among the Indian customers apart from its sleek design and features is its affordable Ford Figo price that lured the customers to the Ford showrooms. After two years Figo will be seen in its new avatar in the form of a new model, but prior to that it will also get a facelift by the end of this year. The new Ford Figo pictures have gone viral on the internet; the hatch was caught undergoing test runs. The latest Ford Figo photo suggests that tail light design of the hatchback will be revivified.

The front fascia will also get a revamp in the form of a new grille seen on the front. A grille can change the whole look of the hatchback and this is what exactly going to happen with Ford Figo. There is also a sticker glued on to the rear of the hatchback which says “Voice of customer first”. The sticker implies that a lot of changes have been made to the Figo based on the feedback taken from the customers which the company received since last two years. The company has been getting a lot of complaints on the scraping of the underbody of the hatchback when run over the erratic speed brakes present in ample amount on the Indian roads.

The long wheelbase of the small car is one of the reasons behind this problem. The problem could be avoided only if one drives extremely slow on speed breakers apart from this the car also has to be driven sideways on speed breakers. Now let us see if Ford could do something to amend this issue which is mainly due to the speed breakers present on the Indian roads. Rumour has it that Ford Figo can also be packed with steering mounted audio controls. In 2011, the company bestowed the vehicle with a couple of new features which comprise of USB connectivity, a tilt steering in the high end variant and alloy wheels.

Questions are being put up whether Ford Figo facelift will get new features like start-stop button and keyless entry as these features were seen on a one off model of the vehicle few days ago. Figo will continue to be powered with the same petrol and diesel engines that include the1.2 litre petrol Duratec powertrain and the 1.4 litre Duratorq turbo diesel engine. Ford Figo upgraded version is anticipated to come into the domestic market by the festive season of Dussehera-Diwali. However, The Company has not given any hint about the launch of the new Figo facelift. Mr. Michael Boneham the President and Managing Director of Ford India stated that the Figo facelift could be launched in India soon. The company is also gearing up to launch the new compact SUV in India, christened Ford EcoSport. The SUV is expected to be launched in India by the beginning of next year that is 2013. Ford has a lot of expectations from this compact SUV and it is anticipating getting the same response from the company which the company received for Ford Figo hatchback few years ago. The SUV has also been launched in Brazil still awaiting its launch in India.
