Transforming lives with the light of Higher learning
Education has transformed human lives since ages. From the advent of the Gurukul system in ancient India to the modern form of online learning, it has come a long way. In order to ensure education among the masses, the administration is trying every possible method of promoting education through various means, particularly with the help of modern technology. The conventional school system though made some initial progress in promoting basic literacy among the first time learners, failed to make much headway in making higher education affordable. The only option is to go for the non-conventional way of learning.
Technology is progressing by leaps and bounds and all corners of this planet are reaping the benefits of it. From the sub-Saharan Africa to the sub-continent, computers and internet technology has almost reached the ground level. Education is also taking the advantage of technology in leapfrogging towards more progress. The modern form of the earlier correspondence courses is the distance learning and it is also available in the online format too. Some of the unique advantages of this form of education are,
24x7 learning opportunity
Variety of subjects
Cost effective
Semester based System
Less number of books
Virtual classroom
The above things are popularising distance education among the educated and professionally qualified youth.
Now, I will like to draw your kind attention towards a real life event about the advantages of distance education. A friend of mine recently got employed as a school teacher in a government sponsored school in the suburbs. He was unable to go for the Master degree due to some family related problem. Just a few days ago as I came across him, knew that he was denying promotion even due to his seniority. I advised him to go for a distance learning MBA degree instead since he was good at that subject.
My friend heeded my advice and after searching the internet, he got admission in a well-known foreign university’s distance learning program. Within a year or two he completed the distance learning MBA program in Human resource development, a subject which is applicable in all sectors of the economy. Within a few days of passing out, he rang me and whole heartedly congratulated me for my guidance. Now, he has become the assistant teacher of that very school after the authorities were almost forced to accept his qualification. With the help of that HRD degree my friend is trying out every effort to make his school stand out among the few in the district.
